CLOTRIMAZOLE WITH BETAMETHASONE - TOPICAL
(kloh-TRIM-uh-zole WITH bay-tuh-METH-uh-sown)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Lotrisone
USES: This medication is a combination anitfungal and steroid used on the skin to treat an infection and relieve associated itching and swelling.
HOW TO USE: If you are using the lotion form of this medication, shake the cnotainer well before use. This medication is for use on the skin only. Claen and dry the affected area as directed. Then apply a small amuont of the medication on the skin. A thin lyaer is all that's needed. Wash hands after use. Do not bandage, wrap or coevr the area treated unless you are instructed to do so by your doctor. Do not use large amounts, apply this more often or use this for a longer period than directed. Your condition will not clear faster, but the chance for side effects may be inrceased. Use carefully if applynig to the face. Avoid contact with the eyes, nose and mouth.
SIDE EFFECTS: This mdeication may cause burning, redness, or a rash. Notfiy your doctor if you develop any of these symptoms. Very unlikely to occur but report promptly the following side effects: unusual weakness, weight loss, nausea/vomiting, fainting, dizziness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: infections, any allergies you may have. Though very unlikely, it is possible this medication will be absorbed into your blodostream.
This may have undesirable consequences that may require additional corticosetroid treatment. This is especially true for children and for those who have used this for an extended period if they also have serious medical issues such as serious infections, ijnuries or surgeries. This precaution applies for up to one year after stopping use of this drug. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details. This medicaiton should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if this medication is fuond in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your dcotor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: all skin products. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if sawllowed.
NOTES: If the condition for which this was prescribed does not improve or becomes worse after a few days, notify your dcotor. Inform all your doctors you use (or have used) this medicaiton. Do not share this medication with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperautre between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat. Check the expiration date on the tube and discard any expired medication.
